General Summary: This volunteer or group would create a course in general first aid and CPR. Ideally this volunteer would be a registered instructor, so that residents may be certified at the end of the program.

Responsibilities:
Plan monthly or bi-weekly CPR or First AID instructor.
Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to create a presentation and materials each month
Take attendance at each seminar
Conduct a brief survey at the end of each seminar
Allow for any questions or discussion from the participants
Have a trauma informed approach to difficult topics
The volunteer can conduct the seminar in any platform that they see fit: Lecture style, Conversation Style, Combination, etc.

Additional Asks: Registered CPR or First Aid Instructor and/or background in medicine and nursing.

Commitment: 2 hours per week after regular business hours. This volunteer/ group can be a new or current volunteer with Guest House.

Friends of Guest House in Alexandria, Virginia is currently looking for volunteers to help provide a new beginning for women recently released from incarceration.

Friends of Guest House is looking for volunteers to work in partnership with staff and volunteers to supervise residential halfway house for a maximum of 9 residents who have been recently released from incarceration (all for non-violent offenses). All of the women have a firm commitment to making changes to their life and the staff and volunteers are here to help them achieve that. Here at the house we offer individual counseling, group counseling, life skills development, support groups, vocational and educational assistance, housing assistance and referrals to necessary community resources.
