This position supports National Headquarters (NHQ) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Specifically the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. The volunteer partner (VP) to the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) serves as a trusted senior advisor aimed at increasing the capacity of the CDO as head of DEI.

Responsibilities:

The VP lends expertise and thought leadership to strategically advise the Chief Diversity officer regarding current and leading practices in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Justice. Key activities vary and include:

• Strategically advise CDO on developments within the DEIBJ industry and opportunities to improve the Red Cross strategic plan.
• Expertise to provide insights into the American Red Cross DEI role within the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.
• Occasionally represent American Red Cross in meetings related to the DEI and the National Diversity Advisory Council.
• Travel occasionally to accompany or represent American Red Cross in meetings related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion domestically and as a part of the Red Cross Movement. This position serves as one of a number of volunteer partners (VPs) to the CDO.

• Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
• Knowledge of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
• An interest and background in leading crucial conversations about DEI
• Experience navigating and building relationships with stakeholders having competing priorities
• Credible individual with knowledge of and influence in the field of DEIBJ
• Demonstrated interest in championing the fundamental principles of the Red Cross Movement
• Strong communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills
• Passion for the Red Cross mission
