Do you have a passion to serve those affected by mental illness? Would you like to make a difference in your community and be able to speak for those who are unable to do so themselves? Are you interested in advocating for changes and improvements to our mental health system? Would you like to belong to an organization that values your experience and passion and where you are part of a family?

Then we need YOU!!

Consider joining the NAMI Pierce County Board of Directors. We are currently seeking a volutneeer for the position of Board president as well as for directors in the areas of education/membership and legislation/advocacy. Board members serve a two-year volunteer term - current term runs thru December 2024, NAMI Pierce County’s mission is to provide support, education, advocacy and public awareness so that individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

The Board President is the main representative of the organization and ensures the operation of the organization with the support of an Executive Director and small staff. Board Directors oversee their specific areas of interest and provides vision and direction for our programs and services. Board members will receive training and orientation office when they take office.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 5 to 20 hours a month average but will depend on the board postion and the particular project or program being worked on. The postion of president may require more time commitment due to meetings and networking with other organizations.
  • Should have a passion for mental health and be dedicated to growing and sustaining the organization. Able to bring creative ideas and work independently and in group settings.
