Sweets to the Streets
ORGANIZATION: POSITIVE CHARGE PDX
Please visit the new page to apply.
For nearly a year, Positive Charge! PDX has been working to add some sweet cheer to their diet. Volunteers have been collecting excess baked goods from our friends at Safeway and delivering them to Blanchet House every Wednesday morning. The Blanchet House then distributes them to Portlanders living on the streets. It’s one small way we bring joy and comfort to this segment of our community.
The Blanchet House provides free meals, water, clothing, hygiene kits and life-saving supportive shelter programs to the houseless community in Portland, including meal service six days a week to anyone in need.
How can you help? We are looking for volunteers who have a free Wednesday morning to pick up the baked goods and deliver them to Blanchet House. While we have a full slate of drivers at this time, we are always looking for back-up drivers and those who want to join the wait list for a Wednesday slot of their own.
