The Center in partnership with Americorps VISTA (https://americorps.gov/serve/fit-finder/americorps-vista) is looking for two candidates to join the Experience Corps Volunteer Program (https://sccsc.org/experiencecorps/). Are you interested in learning about non-profit management, supporting educational initiatives and strengthening your community? Your year of service will focus on either volunteer recruitment and retention or technology systems management. Both roles offer many opportunities to engage with volunteers and build your own skill sets while playing a key capacity-building role with our program.

Americorps VISTA stands for Volunteers in Service to America. As an Americorps member, you will

  • Receive a bi-weekly living allowance of $697.20 (full 14 days of service)
  • Serve on a full time (40 hours per week) basis for one year
  • Be eligible for a Segal Education Award to help pay off student loans or current educational expenses OR $1,800 cash award upon end of service.
  • Be eligible to receive healthcare benefits and child-care assistance
  • Have non-competitive eligibility for employment in federal agencies

The Center accomplishes this mission by providing quality educational, vocational, human services and health programs to these individuals.

Description

The Center hosts Experience Corps Sacramento program that connects older adult volunteers with struggling readers in the Sacramento area. We recruit and train individuals who are over 50 years old to become volunteer reading tutors.
