ORGANIZATION: ONEACCORD HUMAN SERVICES GROUP

JOB OVERVIEW: The Grant Writer works under the direction of the Marketing & Development Manager is involved in fund raising and grant writing activities for the Agency. Grant proposals will be written to both private foundations and government agencies to secure funding for capital projects, equipment, and programs. This position will be responsible for government grants to secure operating funds and startup funding for new programs. The position also includes researching for opportunities for grant funding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Prepares grant proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
  • Conducts research in regard to the availability of Federal, State, Corporate, Foundation, and Private Grant dollars.
  • Determines grant proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings.
  • Meets grant proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
  • Enters and monitors tracking data.
  • Coordinates requirements with contributors and contributes proposal status information to review meetings.
  • Gathers grant proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with grant proposals.
  • Develops grant proposal by assembling information including application packages, project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
  • Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
  • Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding and coordinating printing.
  • Maintains quality results by using templates; following grant proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
  • Obtains approvals by reviewing grant proposal with key providers and project managers.
  • Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
  • Assists the Marketing and Development Manager in communicating with funding sources, including preparing narrative and data reports, and attending meetings as required, including preparing monthly/quarterly/annual reports, grant compliance requirements and service goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in related area (Public Health, Marketing, Business, Non-Profit Management or Fund Development)
  • Two plus years of related experience, including grant writing, fund raising, marketing and planning.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the above requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in public relations, data analysis, reporting and budgeting.
  • Familiar with local area government and community.
  • Knowledge of Federal and private grant requirements.
