Alliance For Girls is excited to finally bring our annual conference back on October 11th in a hybrid format (in Oakland and virtually)! This year, we will take time to honor the legacy of our collective work, celebrate our members, and creatively engage to build " The World We Imagine ," one where radical safety exists for girls and gender-expansive people, so that they may thrive in leadership, self-love, and justice.

To pull this off, we are looking for some friendly and reliable souls to serve as volunteers , taking on an integral role in making this event one to remember! Here are some key details below:
  • Support will be needed from 7am to 5pm. Shifts will be split 7am - 12pm and 12pm - 5pm.
  • Volunteers are needed for both virtual and on-site roles.
  • Upon final confirmation of commitment, all volunteers will be registered free and able to enjoy the conference as attendees outside of their shifts.
  • The conference will take place at the historic Oakland Scottish Rite Center , which is conveniently located by Lake Merritt in downtown Oakland.
  • All in-person conference staff, volunteers, and attendees will be required to wear masks and must provide a negative Rapid antigen test within 24 hours prior to the event, presented to a member of the conference planning team onsite. At-home tests are permitted. Please read our COVID Precautions at the very bottom of the conference homepage for full details: http://worldweimagine.alliance4girls.org/

If interested and available, please fill out the attached google form with your contact info, availability, preferences, and any additional notes:
copy / paste this link: < https://forms.gle/nuvuMZyEyud6Myj88 > into your browser.

After completing the form, you can expect to hear back from staff later this month when orientation details and assigned roles are shared.

In the meantime, please feel encouraged to message Nia at nia@alliance4girls.org if you have any trouble accessing the form or have any updates, questions, or concerns upon submitting a response.

Thank you in advance, and we’re excited to see you there!

Sending well wishes,

The AFG Team

About Alliance for Girls

Location:

Mission Statement

Alliance for Girls mobilizes girls’ champions to address barriers facing girls, create conditions for their success, and advance systemic change to achieve equity. Our vision is to advance equitable communities in which every girl thrives.

Description

We are the largest regional alliance of girl-serving organizations and leaders in the country. Our membership includes 100+ organizations that employ 2,400 people with more than 5,100 volunteers serving more than 300,000 girls across six Bay Area counties.

The issues facing girls and young women are complex and multi-faceted. Alliance for Girls (AFG) is transforming the girls’ service sector from one of siloed, single-issue organizations, to a strong, connected network of organizations, with the necessary complexity and collective power to holistically meet girls’ needs and eliminate systemic barriers to their success.

Together we’re enabling new, integrated models for supporting girls with strong leadership, collaborative programming, original research and intergenerational, cross-disciplinary advocacy strategies.

We Believe:

  • That those closest to the problem are closest to the solution
  • In moving beyond the gender binary
  • That diverse leadership is more effective leadership
  • In the power of the collective
*"Girls" refers to gender expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identified youth).
