Coaching General Info:

It is the responsibility of the coach to help organize their team each season, instruct/train players and parents to uphold the rules of the game. Once the season begins it is the Coach that communicates the program information to their team. Promoting good sportsmanship and setting a good example for the Youth in our Bloomington Community. Report disputes that come up between coaches, umpires/referees, players and parents throughout the season to their level director. This is a volunteer position. Some items may change due to specific sport needs.

The coach must be available (or send assistant coach):

  • Attend Coaches meetings/ training before, during, and after the season.
  • Attend Parent, Athlete, and Coaches meetings.
  • Attend the tournament coaches meeting prior to tournament week.

Pre-season:

  • Register/ apply to be an approved BAA coach.
    • Complete BAA Background Check.
    • Review and Acknowledge to adhere to the BAA Child and Youth Protection Policy.
    • Complete concussion training.
  • Complete any training specific to your sport.
  • Pick-up equipment for your team

During Season:

  • Field calls/questions from parents and settle issues and share issues with the commissioner as needed.
  • Contact your commissioner with issues as they arise.
  • Have fun!

End of season:

  • Attend the end of season Commissioner meeting to discuss successes, improvements needed.
  • Complete end of season surveys sent by the Executive Board, encourage your families to do the same. This should be sent out to all registered families after tournaments are completed.

BAA’s philosophy has remained the same for over 4 decades: offer youth organized sports programs to participate in without tryouts, without regard to ability, and at a cost affordable to all. If the fees are an issue, BAA offers scholarships, based on the ability to pay, to provide equal opportunity to play for all youth. Parents, guardians, relatives, and friends are strongly encouraged to volunteer to help their child's team as a Coach, Assistant Coach, Co-Coach, Timekeeper, Scorekeeper, or in some other way assist the Coach and Team.

  • Must be at least 18
  • 6 pm - 8 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays from November - March with winter break scheduled off. With minimal time outside of scheduled sessions. Plus 4 tournaments on weekends, dates to be determined.
  • Wrestling/coaching knowledge is a must.
