Our Mission Statement:
Dogs have benefitted the human race throughout history and exemplified loyalty and love. Because of lack of resource and education, Humans have often failed to reciprocate those traits. Doggy Oasis International is committed to providing a safe, energetic, clean and loving haven for dogs who are homeless while socializing and training them in order to facilitate their re-integration in the human world. In the same vein, we expose these trained dwellers to the local populations to highlight their inherent value so as to encourage their stewardship and respect. We need your help!

Are you interested in Education?

We harvest our dog’s incredibly docile demeanor in educational and therapeutic programs. Come help us train our dogs and participate in this amazing aspect of our oasis which is found in no other shelter: rescued street and village dogs trained to help humans!

Construction?

We constantly have ongoing construction projects around the 250 acres! such projects involve restoration of our current shelters and roads but also involve creating new trails and dog training areas.

Do you just love dogs?

You would be working with 60+ sweet dogs in the Amazon jungle everyday. These dogs are amazing and grateful to be here as they have been saved from near death. We need people to come and show them that the human touch can be good and trusted. You will help with the daily maintenance and training activities and go on hikes with the pack of dogs, something we do 3 times a day. Get ready to be muddy!

Logistics

We have a small house for volunteers on the property where you will be able to stay during the duration of the time you choose to come. We will provide you with lunch and dinners 5 days a week and transportation to and from the airport. We are accepting volunteers year round for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Must be in good physical shape and plane ticket is not covered.

Description

Stray and abandoned dogs have a home until they are either adopted or have a sweet end of life.
A 320-acre sanctuary in French Guiana, welcomes hundreds of spayed, castrated and vaccinated dogs. These dogs will otherwise have been left at the mercy of relentless cars, misinformed people, and endemic diseases.

Our Dogs become an instrument of change by showing the local population what they can do: pick up trash, soothe the elderly and sick, help restore dignity of inmates, bring responsibility to youth at risk, entertain, and assist the hearing or visually impaired. Because of their accomplishments and a strong educational campaign, our human neighbors learn to vaccinate, spay, neuter, and care for their dogs. Raising public awareness of the value of dogs is paramount to the success of our mission. With our trained packs, we visit schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and prisons to educate while entertaining, comforting and serving the community. Our dogs even clean beaches, so they are not incorrigible scavengers that kill valuable wildlife.
