Recruiting Organization: NurtureNW

Background

What if you could make a new parent's journey a little less lonely? What if there was a parent-friendly way to care for your community? This opportunity is calling you! Become a NurtureNW mentor today!

NurtureNW is on a mission to help new and expecting parents across WA State feel more connected, confident and resilient as they become new parents. And we want you to join us! If you’re a parent or grandparent with access to a computer, you could help new parents navigate their third trimester through their baby’s first birthday, all from your own home and in just 1-2 hours per week.

"Mentoring has made me a more competent and compassionate parent" -Tracy, NurtureNW Mentor

NurtureNW is powered by the Committee for Children, a global leader in social and emotional learning and the publisher of the award winning, Second Step Program.

Role Description

As a Mentor, you will join a community of experienced parents, dedicated to supporting new parents through the early stages of parenthood. We’ll match you with 5-10 new parents from communities across WA State. Every week, you’ll check in with each of your mentees with a text message. These conversations take place on a secure online platform accessible by computer or tablet, so you can easily send and receive text messages, wherever and whenever you have internet access. The platform allows you to have impactful conversations and support your mentees on your lunch break or at home in bed - you make your own schedule based on what’s convenient for you. The platform technology will help you provide your mentees with evidence-backed information, articles, and child development trackers as needed, customized to their needs. The NurtureNW team provides consistent assistance and guidance- and we're parents ourselves!

We ask for a year-long commitment, and are recruiting on a rolling basis. All applicants will go through a screening process which entails an application and request for references. Online training will be provided.
