826 is a national non-profit organization that serves as an international proof point for writing as a tool for young people to ignite and channel their creativity, explore identity, advocate for themselves and their community, and achieve academic and professional success. At 826 New Orleans, we cultivate and support the voices of young writers ages 6-18 through a range of programs at our Center in the 7th Ward and creative collaborations with schools and communities across New Orleans.

Good Troublemakers is a community collections project in which we visit classrooms all over the city and lead themed writing workshops. This year's theme is community safety! We'll be writing with students aged 5-18 about how we know we're safe, what makes a community safe, and what we can do to help create one. We need both in-person volunteers to assist students with their writing during classroom workshops, and virtual volunteers who can transcribe the work as it is collected throughout the fall.
