SAGE Eldercare, a well-established, community-based, nonprofit organization that offers a comprehensive array of services to older adults and their caregivers, is seeking volunteers for local meal deliveries. SAGE Eldercare’s Meals on Wheels Department offers meal delivery to individuals at their home in our local area - Berkeley Heights, Chatham, Millburn, Mountainside, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield and Summit.
The meal delivery volunteer is a critical member of the SAGE Eldercare Meals on Wheels program. Volunteers deliver more than just a meal to clients, they are often the sole human interaction and visit received daily, and provide a warm smile, friendly visit, light conversation, and a general wellness check to individuals who are 60 and older, frail, homebound, or disabled, are eligible for the program.
Key responsibilities:
- Collect meal coolers, client delivery roster, and other materials for client from SAGE headquarters.
- Drive to client homes for delivery of meal, checking in with client on overall health and wellbeing. Offers light conversation and meal set-up.
- Returns delivery coolers to SAGE headquarters.
Requirements:
- Current valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Friendly and professional disposition for interacting with homebound seniors.
Job Type: Volunteer
Schedule: Monday to Friday 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
