Event Description:

Inter-Tribal Pow Wow is celebrating the legacy and culture of North Carolina's Indigenous communities! In partnership with indigenous community organizers and the Dix Park Conservancy, join us for Dix Park's Inter-Tribal Pow Wow. The community is invited to experience a day of competition dancing, music, and vendors showcasing the incredible legacy and culture of Indigenous communities living in North Carolina today.

Volunteer Duties:

Event Ambassador - Greet event attendees, provide event directional instructions, support event set up, and assist with clean up.

Volunteer Impact:

Volunteers working this event will be supporting the City and park by ensuring event activities are a safe and fun experience while attending the event.

Work Environment:

Volunteers will be working outdoors. Volunteers should expect crowds and should be able to be on their feet for periods of time. There will be uneven terrain. Port-o-johns will be on site.

Volunteer Requirements:

Pre-registration is required. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. Those under 16 years of age must have a parent/guardian present. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. Those under 18 years of age will need a parent/guardian to sign their form.

Other Instructions:

Volunteers should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. Please bring your own filled water bottle. Volunteers will be provided a volunteer ID badge. Parking and check-in instructions will be provided closer to the event date.

Group Registration:

A group contact must email prvolunteer@raleighnc.gov with a number of slots to reserve. Please also include the event name and, if applicable, which shift(s) you would like to assist with.

COVID-19 Policy:

Volunteers must follow the COVID-19 policies below so that projects are safe for everyone.


  • All Volunteers
    • We are no longer requiring mask be worn, but they are welcome
    • Maintain a safe social distance of 6 ft.
    • Please do not register to volunteer if you are showing COVID-19 symptoms or have recently been exposed
  • Indoor Volunteers
    • Ongoing Indoor volunteers such as coaches, docents, or instructors are required to show proof of full vaccination that will be verified during the application/onboarding process

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
