Young people in Uganda especially Orphans and other vulnerable children face a multiplicity of problems with varying magnitudes. This particular era of generation has offered much more problems than the former ones. Everywhere in Uganda young people between the ages of 10 to 35 years are frustrated, involved in riots and in most cases the end result is suicide. Lack of employment is causing young people to take risks. For instance, in July 2013, 36 young people who had been running motor cycles, taxis in Kampala City were burnt to death as they tried to siphon fuel from a truck that had involved in an accident. And some young women are taking jobs overseas only to find themselves forced in to prostitution. According to Uganda police, every month, 20 Ugandans are stranded abroad seeking help. If the figure is multiplied in a year, it comes to over 250 Ugandans stranded abroad every year. Other young people are involved in drug trafficking. Young people with nothing to do are more easily lured into crime. They can easily be lured into drug trafficking on promise of big pay.
As a response to this precarious situation, Fields of Hope for Orphans-Uganda (FHO) conceived the idea of supporting, educating, guiding and to empower the young people through development of jobs and skills to overcome the problem Starvation and unemployment.
