Help us raise money to save German Shepherd Dogs by volunteering at our annual fun-draiser, Wags to Riches! Wags is a casual event for about 200 GSD lovers, most associated in some way with our organization: volunteers, adopters, fosters, and supporters. There's a huge silent auction, K9 demo, games, catered dinner, grand raffle and live auction. It's a really fun evening. Must love (big) dogs!
We need folks to help with setup, during the event, or both. Setup starts around noon and the doors open at 4 pm. The event finishes at 8 pm and cleanup finishes around 9:30.
Setup involves moving tables into place, unloading cars with supplies, decorating tables, setting up auction items, unpacking beverage glasses, etc. During the event we need help selling raffle tickets, game chances, merchandise, and beverage tickets. Some volunteers sit at tables and others roam around offering stuff. It’s a cash-less event; all purchases are made using a bidder number that is tied to a guest’s credit card.
It’s not really "selling" because our guests WANT what you have ("Hey, do you have any bag raffle tickets left?") But an outgoing personality will be helpful. Volunteers MUST be able to accurately record bidder numbers and purchases on a clipboard - that’s the only way we know who bought what.
Volunteers get free beverages, and if you stay through cleanup you get yummy dinner too!
We usually have students & Girl Scouts volunteering along with adults. Training takes about 10 minutes. Volunteers work in teams of 2 or more to allow for potty breaks and checking out the event. Our guests are mostly middle-aged and enjoy dogs, socializing with other dog lovers, and having fun! Alcohol is served at this event. There will be GSDs, too!

Mission Statement
Our mission is six-fold: Rescuing German Shepherd Dogs from life threatening situations at animal shelters and elsewhere. Finding German Shepherd Dogs permanent loving homes with qualified owners. Assisting owners of German Shepherd Dogs who can no longer keep them to find them new homes. Working cooperatively with animal shelters and other rescue groups in the community towards our common goals of saving dogs' lives and reducing pet overpopulation. Educating the public about the advantages of adopting dogs from shelters and rescue organizations, and about the need for spaying and neutering dogs. Educating owners and prospective owners of German Shepherd Dogs about their proper care and training, and about other aspects of the breed.
