Talented photographer needed to help us capture our first documentary screening in film. The event will be held in Jersey City on Saturday, October 1st from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
1City Soul follows the career of Dr. Leisa Herrera (Mz. Doc), who founded "The 1City Youth Project" as a senior in high school. 1City served more than 3000 young people, providing opportunities for them to connect through sports, education, the performing arts and community service. Housed at a public school in Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn, 1City drew youth from all corners of New York City and New Jersey and made its way to Nigeria! After 1City closed in 2010 Mz. Doc moved to NJ, but the impact of 1City remained alive. After being recognized for humanitarian service in 2015, Mz. Doc's husband Luis became inspired to create a similar program and created SoulPhamm Inc. Luis passed away suddenly in 2021 just before its launch and the documentary lays the foundation for Mz. Doc's return to youth development as its CEO and the carrier of Luis' legacy.
The event is meant to be a fundraiser and sets the stage for the sequel to the documentary which we hope to start working on this season.The photographer's work will be featured on all of our social media channels and they will be credited for their work. A portfolio or sample of work is strongly preferred. Ideally, the photos would be turned around by the end of October. No phone calls please.

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
