Teen Ambassadors - Competitive Cheerleading

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: SoulPhamm Inc

While experience is strongly preferred, beginners who are willing to make the commitment are welcome.

Young ladies are needed to help us strengthen our new competitive cheerleading team. Candidates for this opportunity must be between the ages of 12 and 16 and can use this for community service credit if needed.

The team practices at the Newark YMCA and as a teen ambassador, you will help us build and strengthen the program. You will be trained to participate in competitions, parades and sporting events. You will help lead warm-up stretches before the coaches arrive and cheer/choreography review once they leave. You can also do virtual cheer/choreography reviews via Zoom during the week in the evening.

Practice is every Saturday from 12:30pm to 4:30pm from September to June. Because this team is expected to be busy on Saturdays, it is strongly advised that you not be part of any other team that practices or has games/meets on Saturdays.

You will perform in parades, competitions and high-visibility events. The organization will raise money to help pay for whatever costumes you will need to participate.

About SoulPhamm Inc

Location:

613 Washington Boulevard, Suite 1129, Jersey City, NJ 07310, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.

Description

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.

SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
