Bayside Policy Coordinator
Surfrider's San Mateo County (SMC) chapter is looking for a passionate volunteer to join our Policy team as a Bayside Coordinator. The Bayside Coordinator will be the bayside representative on our policy team. They will attend local City Council meetings and track issues that impact healthy shorelines, shoreline/beach access, and issues connected to sea level rise. They will work closely with our experienced Policy Leads for guidance.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Monitor three City Councils on the Bayside in San Mateo County
- Track issues that impact healthy shorelines, shoreline/beach access, and issues connected to sea level rise
- Attend City Council meetings as needed
- Establish and steward relationships with stakeholders and partners
- Produce and deliver written and oral public comment on issues related to the above, or coordinate coverage by others
- Work collaboratively with the Chapter's policy manager and other policy leads (ie. Rise Above Plastics, OFR, etc)
- Attend Chapter meetings every other month and report on new issues or give updates on current developments
- Time commitment for this volunteer position may vary, and could require up to 10 hours a month
