Wycombe Museum and our volunteers

Volunteers are a vital and valued part of the Wycombe Museum family. We value every skill that people bring and every minute that people give to us, and endeavour to have every volunteer feel appreciated and enjoy the time they spend helping us. We strive to have a relationship with our volunteers based on mutual respect and understanding.

This is an exciting time to get involved at Wycombe Museum as we move into post-COVID recovery and welcome all our audiences back through our doors.

As a Wedding & Events Volunteer you will be working at the museum when it is at its busiest and most exciting!

A typical day in this role may include:

  • Welcoming guests to Wycombe Museum
  • Leading event activities with adults and children
  • Preparing and serving drinks (this can include alcohol)
  • Site health and safety checks (supported by the Duty Manager)
  • Opening and closing galleries
  • Assisting with setting up and packing away furniture and decorations

Wedding and events shifts vary depending on the event being held. This can range from 11 - 3pm on a Sunday to 2pm - 12am on a Saturday. Wedding and Events Volunteers will be regularly emailed with events that need support and volunteers can put themselves forward to support if they wish.

Who would be supporting me?

The Wedding & Venue Hire Co-Ordinator, Lauren, would be your main point of contact. On a daily basis, the Duty Manager and our staff and volunteers will be helping you.

Where and when would I be volunteering?

Volunteers will be based at Wycombe Museum located on Priory Avenue, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, HP13 6PX.

What is Wycombe Museum looking for?

We are looking for a friendly, respectful and enthusiastic person who is happy to earn new skills.

What skills and qualifications do I need?

All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
