Nestled in the middle of the Ozark Mountains, Table Rock Lake’s premier Dewey Short Visitor Center explains how the US Army Corps of Engineers manages water within the White River Watershed for flood risk management, hydropower, recreation, environmental stewardship and water supply. Volunteers primarily staff the information desk to greet and orient visitors, answer questions, distribute handouts, brochures, and activities, stock brochures, and inventory lost/found items. Other duties include picking up litter, vegetation management, minor janitorial, and minor maintenance. Up to eight hours per day. Target schedule of two to three days per week depending on staffing needs. 14 hours per week per individual is typical. Up to 32 hours per week may be requested on occasion for special events.
The surrounding area is a recreation paradise for fishing, hunting, hiking, caving or just plain being out in nature. Branson, MO is situated within a day’s drive of 50% of the U.S. population, and receives up to 65,000 visitors daily. Known as the "Live Entertainment Capitol of the World" with over 30 live shows daily. Local attractions are sure to fulfill your need for thrill rides and live shows. Summers can be hot and humid at times and spring/fall is mainly mild but can occasionally experience below freezing temperatures and inclement weather.

MISSION STATEMENT:
To enhance the visitor’s understanding and appreciation of public lands and waters, instilling visitors with a sense of proprietorship, and promoting environmental stewardship in order to preserve the natural and cultural resources of the region for future generations.
SCHEDULE:
- Arrive by the end of February so orientation training can be given be prior to opening on March 1.
- Depart sometime around or after Memorial Day.
- Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with an hour-long lunch break.
- Average of 14 hours per week per person. If selected, single individuals will be asked to work an average of 21 hours per week.
- Days: Two days per week. More days may be requested based on staffing needs and events.
- Visitor Center is open Tuesdays through Saturdays until Memorial Day weekend.
