Internship Opportunity

Our Ministry

Hope Life Center has been helping pregnant mothers in Illinois find the freedom to choose life for their unborn children for 36 years. We operate under the assumption that no mother wants to have an abortion. Seven years ago, we were the first pregnancy center in Illinois to adopt a medical service model specifically designed to reach the abortion-minded woman. This model works! Seven out of ten pregnant mothers served at our clinics choose life, and over the past seven years we have seen over 779 lives saved through Hope Life Center.

What We Do

Our clinics provide a no-cost pregnancy consultation with a licensed medical professional. Our services include a pregnancy test, ultrasound, STD testing and treatment, community resource referrals, and most importantly a chance to hear the Gospel. Results have demonstrated that these services and resource connections are vital for women that find themselves experiencing an unplanned pregnancy crisis.

The Opportunity

We are looking to build our capacity to provide outreach in our community. We hope others who hear Christ call to come and intern with us. This opportunity will allow you to work in an active pro-life organization making an impact in Illinois. We are not a political organization rather, a ministry providing day to day support to women in crisis. Interns will develop nonprofit leadership skills, working experience in a Pro Life ministry,

  • Helpline Support - Our helpline answers calls/text and emails 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm. • Social Media Support - Social Media Interns support our outreach efforts online in our communities. Do you have experience managing or creating content for the online environment? Use your talent in ministry. Let us know about your current level of expertise. This is a virtual position.
  • Receptionist- Receptionists support our patient teams and women who we serve in our clinics. This position does require you to be within driving distance to one of our clinics and have availability during our clinic hours. Contact us to learn more.
  • Fund Development Support - Do you love making phone calls, sending out thank you letters to others who support our good work? Interns in this area will work with nonprofit leadership in helping grow and spread the good news of our ministry and impact to others. This can be both a virtual and an office position.

Statements of Position

Please carefully read each of the positional statements on the following pages. To be employed with Hope Life Center, you are required to sign an agreement to uphold each of the Positional Statements as stated.

Statement of Faith

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*meaning the universal Christian church-all believers in Jesus Christ

Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26 27). Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10). We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of our organization, and to provide a biblical role model to those we serve and members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by our organizations in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22). We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9 11). We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the mission of this organization.

Statement on Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Ps. 139).

Statement on Abortion

It is our position that every abortion claims an innocent life. We are painfully aware of the trauma surrounding pregnancies related to rape, incest, deformities of the developing child, and/or health risks to the mother. We exist, in part, to provide helpful intervention in such cases, but we do not find abortion to be either effective or morally acceptable as a method of reducing such trauma. In those extremely rare cases where continued pregnancy is reasonably expected to precipitate the mother's immediate and literal death, we have been able to discover no clear biblical principle absolutely prescribing or recommending the act of abortion. In such cases, we encourage the parties involved to prayerfully consider the gravity of their decision and the merit of available alternatives. Furthermore, we commit ourselves to respect the decision of the parents and to provide whatever support is possible.

Statement on Birth Control

For far too long, "sex education" in our schools has concentrated on birth control instead of self control. We believe that, so long as people engage in sexual relationships outside of marriage, there will continue to be great numbers of unplanned pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and broken lives. Much of the difficulty encountered in confronting the problems of young adult promiscuity and pregnancy stems from a paradox engendered by the birth control establishment. Though young people are taught that sex outside of marriage is "no big deal," they sense its profound s i gnificance and so feel both permission and desire to become sexually active. This has produced ever-higher rates of young adult sexuality, pregnancy, abortion and disease- the very problems that expensive, tax-funded programs promised to prevent. This organization is working to reach young adults with the less appealing but more truthful message that sex can only be safe and loving within the context of a permanent, marital relationship.

Statement of Principle

Our organization is an outreach ministry of Jesus Christ through His church. Therefore, this organization, embodied in its staff and volunteers, is committed to presenting the gospel of our Lord to women with crisis pregnancies- both in word and in deed. Commensurate with this purpose, those who labor through this organization as board members, directors, and volunteers are expected to know Christ as their Savior and Lord. We are committed to providing our clients with accurate and complete information about prenatal development, abortion risk and procedures and the gospel. We are committed to integrity in dealing with clients earning their trust and providing promised information and services. We denounce any form of deception in our corporate advertising or individual conversations with our clients. We are committed to assisting women to carry to term by providing emotional support and practical assistance. Through the provision of God's people and the community at large, women may face the future with hope and plan constructively for themselves and their babies. We do not discriminate in providing services because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, or marital status of our clients. We do not recommend, provide, or refer for abortion or abortifacients. We offer assistance free of charge at all times. We are committed to creating awareness within the local community of the needs of pregnant women and of the fact that abortion only compounds human need rather than resolving it. We do not recommend, provide, or refer for contraceptives. We recognize the validity of adoption as one alternative to abortion, but are not biased toward adoption when compared to other life-saving alternatives. This organization functions independently of adoption agencies, relating to them in the same manner as to other helpful referral sources. This organization receives no payment of any kind from these agencies, does not enter into contractual relationships with them and does not share combined office space. Adoption agencies are not established under the auspices of this organization. This organization neither initiates nor facilitates independent adoptions, though we may refer for independent adoptions in states where it is legal.

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

The statements in this article do not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of this organization’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is the organization’s final interpretive authority on the Bible's meaning and application.

Our mission is to provide pregnant and at-risk mothers with medical services, pregnancy decision coaching, and Christ centered support proven to help them find the freedom to choose life for themselves and their children.

We are a Christ-centered organization dedicated to helping every woman in Illinois find the freedom to choose life for her unborn child.

These centers function as an emergency room for the pregnancy decision, providing women in Illinois with a life-affirming alternative to other clinics. Our patient team serves at-risk women with free pregnancy options coaching and medical services including pregnancy testing, an ultrasound, and STI testing.

The medical care we provide empowers women to make informed decisions about the outcome of their pregnancies.
