Immediate Information: As of May 1st, 2023, The Den has moved a few doors down in the same shopping center to a slightly larger space. The downside is that this new space is a blank canvas and a lot of help is needed preparing the space to eventually house cats. Volunteers are needed immediately to help with the following items to prep the New Den space: clean glass with glass cleaner (doors, windows, kitten room), throw away all trash items, clean all walls of grit and dust, sand and spackle walls to prep for painting, paint the quarantine room and the back storage room (same color throughout), install the Ring cameras including the front doorbell, take up glue and sand bathroom floor to prep for the epoxy floor. We could definitely use volunteers with experience laying an epoxy floor to help. More tasks to be assigned as progress is made. Bottom line is we need A LOT OF HELP! We are looking specifically for volunteers who can work with little direction or supervision needed.
PetSmart (N Military Hwy, Norfolk) and Petco (Redmill): While The Den undergoes necessary renovations, we do have kitties located at PetSmart and Petco who need volunteers. Volunteers can come in whenever they want to take care of the kitties, after they sign up for shifts. This includes cleaning food bowls, replace food, fresh water, clean litter boxes, sanitize kennels and clean/ vacuum them, add litter when needed, etc. We have a group of dedicated volunteers who can help train you and provide a brief orientation so you feel comfortable volunteering at either or both locations.
General Information When the Den Reopens: The Den is our main facility for Lil Roar Cat Rescue. It operates based on our volunteer's schedules. Volunteers can come in whenever they want to take care of the kitties stationed in The Den for adoption. This includes cleaning food bowls, replace food, fresh water, clean litter boxes, sanitize kennels and clean/ vacuum them, add litter when needed, sweep floors, mop floors, general clean up around the Den. This opportunity also including socializing timid kitties. It also requires you to know how to direct potential walk-in adopters to our an adoption application online and have general awareness of LRCR policies.

Description
Lil Roar Cat Rescue was founded in 2017 by our current President, Lisa Catlett. It is governed by a Board of Directors and operates in Virginia Beach, Virginia and the surrounding area(s).
