DUYA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing educational and career programs to students K-12th from over 80 zip codes of Los Angeles County but is known for its long-standing work in the South Los Angeles communities. The organization offers tutoring, peer mentorship workshops, college and career advisement, mental health support, and job readiness advisement.

Duties:

  • Use technology for multi-faceted assessment through project-based learning.
  • Work more closely in a classroom with students doing high-quality, applied work.
  • Help students enjoy learning alongside their peers.
  • Use 21st-century competencies such as critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
  • Provide a real-world connection and use an authentic problem that drives the curriculum

Qualifications: Excellent telephone manners and people skills. Fully computer literate and comfortable with the main Microsoft Office tools, library databases, and emails. Outgoing, friendly, and proactive character. Be comfortable interacting within a group or by yourself. Good communication skills and cultural competence. Being able to use your own initiative but be able to ask for help when needed.

Incentives : mileage reimbursement, and tutor certifications sponsored by the company.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in-person
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • At Least 1 year of experience as a tutor, academic coach, or paraeducator
  • Ability to drive and show proof of Valid California driving license and car insurance
  • Enrolled and/or graduated from an accredited University, Community college, or trade school

Part-time: 20 hours per week. Monday-Thursday 12:00-5:00 pm

We plan to place children in the position of creating their own destiny by taking charge of their future within this program.
