We are looking for about 200 volunteers to help with the Japan Week 2022 event at Bellevue College. Volunteers will be needed to help out on Saturday, September 24th, when the campus is open to the public. The event will have hand sanitizers in every booth and classroom, to ensure the safety of the visitors and volunteers against the spread of COVID-19. The minimum age to sign-up is 15, and high school students can receive volunteer hour credit towards their school's volunteer requirements by participating. If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign-up through this link: https://forms.gle/5joQet4bWZbbatEUA (Note: the sign-up form will close once we reach 200 volunteers).

Thank you for your help!

About Japan Week @ Bellevue College

Location:

3000 Landerholm Circle SE, Bellevue, WA 98007, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to expose our students and the wider Bellevue College community to multiple facets of Japanese culture. The objectives include: § exposing BC students to a variety of Japanese cultural aspects - not just what is seen in movies and TV. § Involving students in topics in more depth or in a more interactive manner than what can be easily achieved in a classroom environment. § Providing a forum for the presentation and practice of Japanese art forms presented by traditional artists and artisans. § Encouraging wider participation in and appreciation of the Arts and Crafts of Japan. § Providing a "Japanese Style" community event where students can meet and mingle with citizens of Japan living in the area as expatriates. § Improving personal and community relationships through a better understanding of Japan’s rich culture. Marketing, Event Planning and Communication skills are developed.

Description

The annual JAPAN WEEK @ Bellevue College event is planned and operated by the Bellevue College Japanese Culture Exchange Club. This student Club won the college's "Club of the Year Award" in 2019. We had our first Japan Week in 2017 promoting the rich Japanese culture to our students and the wider community, inviting guest lecturers, performers, and exhibitors who share their professional skills and knowledge.
High school students can earn volunteer credits by volunteering at Japan Week.
