On Sunday, October 9th, hundreds of runners who have worked tirelessly to fundraise for the American Cancer Society will be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. We need YOUR HELP to cheer them on! By the time our runners reach mile 25, they have just 1.2 miles left to go before completing the marathon and they will need all the encouragement and enthusiasm they can get! This is where you come in! Join us from 10AM-3PM at S. Michigan and 24th. We will have cowbells, music, dancing, cheer signs, and anything else you need to let our Team DetermiNation athletes know how much we love and appreciate them!
Please note: Th exact location is subject to change slightly, pending approval/changes mandated by the Chicago Marathon office. We will be located somewhere between Mile 24 and 25 of the marathon route. You will receive up-to-date information regarding the volunteering location via email. Additionally, we may need a few additional volunteers to represent at mile 20 instead (18th and Halsted), if you are flexible and/or would prefer to be stationed there instead.
Please fill out the form below if you would like to volunteer at the cheer station. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to stay for the full amount of time, but there will also be two shifts (10AM-1PM and 12:30 PM-3PM) that you can choose from.
We will have snacks for all of our volunteers. If you are working the entire 10AM-3PM shift, you will have time set for a lunch break. If you are volunteering for half of the cheer station time, we ask that you please eat before or after your shift.
We welcome groups and students of all ages! Once you sign up here, you will receive additional information from Jenna, the cheer station lead and you will also be able to share more details about yourself/your group.
Due to the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be taking precautions to keep our volunteers safe. We will have extra masks available to take, but you are also welcome to bring your own, if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask. There will be plenty of space at the cheer station for social distancing.
