Recruiting Organization: Summer Search Philly

Summer Search Philadelphia, a youth development non-profit, leverages a personalized, multi-year mentoring program to assist teens and young adults to prepare for lifelong success. We partner with students--of which 99 percent federally qualify as low-income--who have enormous potential but lack sufficient access to services that could develop their talents and capabilities in school, work, and life. Through transformative summer experiences, personalized and group mentoring, and career and college readiness support, we assist teens and young adults in planning their future.

We are currently recruiting for the first ever Summer Search Philadelphia Career Coaching Program, and we love for you to join!

The Career Coaching Program will run from November 2022 to May 2023 and is designed to play an integral role in a Post-secondary Summer Searcher’s professional development. The program provides an opportunity for experienced volunteers to work directly with current Summer Search students by supporting their career exploration and helping them develop the hard and soft skills required to secure an internship or job. Coaches support students in navigating everything from on-campus career resources, internship and job searches, résumé and cover letters, interviewing, and making a good impression during their professional experience.

Our goal is for each Career Coach-Student pair to establish a productive and mutually rewarding relationship, focused on increasing a student’s career readiness as they transition into internship and full-time roles. The expectation is that participants and coaches will meet at least once per month (virtually) for an hour to discuss career progression and contribute to one of the aspects of the career search process (resume, networking, interviewing, etc.). At the end of the program, students should be well-prepared to apply and interview for internships/jobs, be exemplary employees, have a career portfolio ready to show employers, and we will celebrate with an in-person closing ceremony.

If you are interested in being a part of this great experience for our Summer Searchers, please fill out an intake survey at:

We will then follow-up with you to provide more details (We may request a resume from you as well) and chat further before the program starts. If you have any questions, please reach out to Robert Gannone at rgannone@summersearch.org.
