Tiny Stitches’ Layettes for Indigent Newborns charity is seeking experienced stitchers, knitters, and crocheters to make clothes and bedding for infants born into financially disadvantaged circumstances in North Georgia.
Survival is the most basic need for these babies, and we feel the clothing we provide gives them a much better chance to live and thrive.

All supplies are furnished to volunteers through six workshops in the metro Atlanta area. Items are hand-made from patterns available at www.tinystitches.org and then returned to the workshops. Items are distributed to community contacts at hospitals and other facilities, who give them anonymously to new mothers.

Mission Statement

Tiny Stitches, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to helping indigent newborns in North Georgia get a healthy start in life by providing them with a handmade layette containing enough clothing and blankets to keep them warm and dry for the first three months of life. Newborns of many families in northeast Georgia living below the poverty level are leaving the hospital dressed only in a T-shirt and diaper. Survival is the most basic need for these babies, and we feel the clothing we provide allows them to have a much better chance to live and thrive.

Description

Volunteers are asked only to give their time and use their skills to create clothing, bedding, and care items for these special newborns in need. These items are packed in large, hand-sewn totes. Each tote is filled with 30 to 33 layette items. Tiny Stitches provides our volunteers with all materials, supplies, and patterns to ensure that all newborn recipients of a layette receive the same items of clothing and bedding, and that each item is consistently crafted in the highest quality.
