ORGANIZATION: Alaska Afterschool Network, Program of the Alaska Children's Trust

Afterschool STEM Expansion VISTA:

The Alaska Afterschool Network is embarking on exciting new work to expand the amount of STEM opportunities in afterschool programs. The STEM Afterschool Expansion VISTA will work to build partnerships with STEM-related businesses, industry partners, higher education officials, and schools to increase coordination and improve the quality of afterschool programs.

Member Duties:

Advance AAN’s capacity to be a centralized resource hub for STEM in afterschool through resource and program mapping. Increase afterschool program engagement in STEM Program Quality Improvement (STEM PQI) initiative. Increase engagement of girls in afterschool STEM programming through the national Million Girl Moonshot initiative. Increase community awareness of importance of STEM afterschool.

Member Benefits:

By-Weekly Living Allowance: $675.00
End of Service Segal Education Award:$6,495.00 or End of Service Stipend (approximately $1,800)
Extra Housing Stipend: $600.00 / month

The Alaska Afterschool Network is a network of nonprofit, private, tribal, and government organizations that promotes high quality afterschool and summer programs as a critical component in the positive development of Alaska’s youth by

  • Bringing the afterschool community together to build a cohesive system that promotes collaboration and a unified voice.
  • Sharing information, best practices, and educational resources to foster high-quality programs.
  • Raising awareness of the impact of afterschool programs to influence public policy at the local, state and national level.
  • Broadening community access to afterschool programs.
The Alaska Afterschool Network is a program of the Alaska Children's Trust, an independent 501(c)(3) dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
