Financial Operations Volunteer

Reports To: Operational Consultant

Location: Remote

Position Status: Part-Time Volunteer

Hours: Up to 5 hours per week


Position Summary

The Financial Operations Volunteer is a short-term but highly impactful volunteer focusing on mitigating risk and increasing efficiency in our financial operations. This person brings strategic leadership experience in nonprofit financials and the desire to build and optimize thorough systems.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review financial procedures and processes to identify areas of improvement and risk
  • Retrain or reset processes that need improvement
  • Create written procedures for financial operations to include fundraising, cash flow, monthly reconciliation, internal controls, and more if needed
  • Provide consultation to the team around financial operations
  • Train the Executive Director and team as needed in procedures and controls


Qualifications

  • Seasoned finance professional
  • Ability to volunteer through the month of September
  • Ability and expertise to craft standard operating procedure that mitigate risk and optimize processes
  • Understanding of GAAP
  • Experience working with nonprofit financials, fundraising operations, and internal controls
  • Ability to work remotely
