Global Canopy is a data-driven not for profit that targets the market forces destroying nature. We do this by improving transparency and accountability. We provide innovative open-access data, clear metrics, and actionable insights to leading companies, financial institutions, governments and campaigning organisations worldwide.

Trustees play an essential governance and oversight role, helping set our strategic direction and making sure we have the resources and systems in place to deliver it. This is a key time to be joining our board as we implement our new 5-year strategy.

We are looking for three trustees to join our board. We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in the following areas:

• Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) processes and implementation
• Implementing data and digital strategies, including managing databases and designing online platforms
• Fundraising
• Developing commercial strategies for non-profits
• UK Human Resources legislation and policies
• Environmental legislation and campaigning
• Understanding of the field of sustainable finance and investment

Global Canopy works on issues relating to tropical deforestation. We are interested in strengthening our board to include those with experience of living and working in forest regions most connected to our work, including Latin America, South East Asia and China. We would particularly welcome applications from people from these regions.

We also welcome applications from people who are interested in taking on their first trustee role. We will support you with learning about the responsibilities involved with being a trustee and your development in this area.

The role requires an estimated commitment of 4 hours per month plus 4 board meetings and 3-4 sub-committee meetings per year. Meetings are normally held on weekdays in Oxford. Remote participation is possible. Trustee positions are not remunerated, although expenses will be reimbursed. Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years.
