Recruiting Organization: Humane Society for Greater Nashua

Description: Assist in maintaining the comfort and cleanliness of adoptable dogs & their living quarters through cleaning kennels, washing laundry, doing dishes, creating enrichment, and other general care in the dog room areas. In the morning, volunteers will primarily clean kennels, assist staff with feeding, change bedding, and prep supplies to get the animals and spaces ready for adoption hours. In the afternoon, volunteers will focus on laundry, dishes, refilling water bowls, creating enrichment, and tidying up spaces to keep animals comfortable and happy.

Responsibilities:

 Clean & disinfect kennels

 Wash floors

 Scoop feces, clean up urine, and freshen kennels

 Assist staff with feeding & watering

 Tidy up adoption & prep areas

 Wash and put away dishes

 Wash & fold laundry

 Prepare enrichment toys

Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age or older and able to practice safe animal interactions & handling. Must also be able to work independently and with others, and be receptive to feedback from staff and senior volunteers. This position requires bending, reaching, and lifting. Volunteers are exposed to various cleaning agents. This position works in close proximity to animals with unpredictable behaviors and requires volunteers to be able to read and understand animal body language. Time Commitment: Volunteers must be willing and able to meet our minimum service requirement of one regularly scheduled shift of at least 2 hours per week, for 6 months. Volunteers must attend an orientation session to get started, and additional hands-on training with staff and senior volunteers as required.
