Mission: Read to a Child’s mission is to foster a love of reading, improve literacy skills, and support socio-emotional well-being in students from under-resourced communities. Read to a Child’s vision is that every child has the opportunity to thrive in school and beyond through inspirational mentoring and read aloud experiences.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: The Greater Los Angeles Region of Read to a Child is searching for a reliable, self-motivated, goal-oriented, and experienced grant writer/fundraiser/networker to assist with researching available grants and funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and individual donors. As the Pro Bono volunteer Grant Specialist, you will work directly with the Regional Director and will be responsible for performing grant-related duties.
The volunteer will:
* Investigate and identify prospective funding sources
* Track and monitor proposals, their deadlines, and requirements
Requirements:
* Experience in philanthropy and non-profit organizations
* Proven experience as a non-profit grant researcher or writer
* Semi or fully retired, a plus
* Working knowledge of MS Office
* Demonstrated strong planning, communication, and organizational skills
* Excellent writing, grammar, and research skills.
* Independent worker and self-motivated
Time Commitment: Flexible hours to be determined each week until the completion of the project which will run approximately 3-6 months.
