Hygiene Bank Activities can happen in the office, school, or at home! Engage your group in community service and awareness by assembling Simply the Basics Hygiene Kits for your neighbors in need.
We will ship to you all the necessary supplies, (Simply the Basics reusable tote bags and 9 core hygiene products) and provide access to our Volunteer portal which includes directions, videos, and your full guide. Complete the activity by dropping off the kits to an approved Simply the Basics Nonprofit Receiving Site, local to you!
Where does the activity take place?
- Choose to assemble the kits in your home, office, school, park, or another location of your choosing.
- YES! Our Hygiene Kit Assembly activity is completely customizable and is a great opportunity to engage with children around compassion and our neighbors experiencing homelessness. For groups with kids, we will modify our presentation and provide additional opportunities such as card drawings to put into the Hygiene Kits.
How does Simply the Basics afford all the necessary supplies?
As a 100% privately funded nonprofit Hygiene Bank, your donations and support make this work possible. Groups can fundraise or provide a tax-deductible donation to help cover the value of the activity or request sponsorship.
All activities do require either dropping off or shipping the complete hygiene kits to one of our Receiving Sites and can include a presentation from Simply the Basics staff, when available.

The Mission of Simply the Basics is to provide for individuals, organizations, and communities their most basic needs with dignity so that they can focus on bigger goals. We simply remove barriers, allowing people to have the opportunity to achieve.
Description
Simply the Basics is inspired by Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the philosophy that people are unable to focus on any needs higher than their current level on the following pyramid. If they are unable to meet needs at the very basic level (food, shelter, clothing, education, and hygiene), they will be incapable of moving up in the pyramid to reach greater goals (job security, sobriety, mental and physical health, and self actualization).
By alleviating the struggle to meet a most basic need, a person can achieve independence in other areas. By removing the barrier of finding the next meal or safe place to sleep, securing hygiene products, and meeting any other basic human needs...People are given the Opportunity to Achieve.
