ORGANIZATION: RIVER ROAD-SANTA CLARA LIBRARY BOARD INC

  • 1 person is interested

We are looking for new volunteers to cover 3-hour shifts once per week. Currently, we need someone to come in on Mondays from 10:00am - 1:00pm and Mondays from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. This is a recurring weekly shift. We are a small, entirely volunteer-run library, and shifts tend to be pretty quiet. There are often not many patrons who come in or many projects to work on, so it is a good idea to bring a book to read, homework, knitting, or something else to do while you're at the library. We are happy to work with people who need to do community service or volunteer hours for course credit.

About RIVER ROAD-SANTA CLARA LIBRARY BOARD INC

Location:

105 OAKLEIGH LN, EUGENE, OR 97404, US

Mission Statement

We are a 100% volunteer-run , independent library, founded in the River Road neighborhood to bring affordable library services to residents who live outside the city limits.

Description

Volunteering at our library is great for people who enjoy a low key environment, enjoy reading, and like to help people. We were closed through the much of the pandemic and are ready to fully open, but we need more volunteers to enable us to achieve this goal.

The library was established in 2003 as a way to provide affordable library services to residents in the 97404 area of Eugene, most of whom are non-city residents. These folks do not pay into the city tax fund and thus are not eligible for a free city library card. Our library has been open since 2005. We ask for a donation of $20 for a one year membership to the library, but no one is turned away for lack of ability/interest to pay. Our operating expenses are entirely through fundraising and donations. The library is staffed entirely by volunteers. Our collection is created mainly through donations and small grants. We have an active children's program throughout the year and a summer reading program for kids also.
