*EMPOWERING ADULTS: Help Women Rebuild Their Lives
ORGANIZATION: CLARE Foundation
Please visit the new page to apply.
Quick Overview: Support with resumes, conduct mock interviews, prepare budgets, and more with women in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction to prepare them to rejoin the workforce and help them rebuild their lives.
Mission or Broader Program Description: CLARE Foundation is a nonprofit organization and trusted community resource, providing effective and affordable alcoholism, substance abuse, and behavioral health treatment and prevention services for nearly 50 years. Experienced, compassionate, and specially trained staff help women and men find an end to the pain and suffering that is at the heart of addiction and discover hope in recovery.
This project is part of RSVP at L.A. Works' Women in Employment Initiative. We are organizing a series of volunteer-led workshops with various nonprofit partners like CLARE to empower women to enhance their skills for new or better jobs. Topics include interview skills, resume, cover letter writing, financial literacy, and more.
Impact: Your choice to volunteer at the CLARE Foundation is a choice to support people in difficult circumstances who sincerely want to make better lives for themselves and rejoin society as productive citizens. Any experience you have as an interviewer or applicant is invaluable to folks who don't. If you've ever had a job, you can help someone else find one! Your experience is invaluable to these women.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: As a volunteer, you will work with a participant 1-on-1 or small group style to guide them in completing an activity related to the topic presented with the goal of enhancing their employment skills.
