If you love rock-n-roll and want to spend time with a musician who has travelled the world performing with some of the more famous names - shh... can't say them here.... Then, this is a great opportunity for you to volunteer today. You can assist by shopping, reading/sorting mail, and getting out around town while you rub elbows with someone who has abruptly lost most of his vision.
There are also some grannies in Danbury who would also need some support so if you prefer Lawrence Welk to Megadeath, there is someone for everyone! You will receive orientation and training to make you an expert!
Requirements to be a great volunteer include:
- a desire to help others;
- a pleasant demeanor;
- a good reading/speaking voice;
- average reading skills;
- organizational or planning abilities;
- a good driving record;
- a clear criminal history;
- two references
- access to a car with proof of insurance;
- for drivers: a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
Volunteers will be matched within three to five miles of home or work.
Very Flexible - set your own schedule but please do what you promise. Minimum of six months is preferred. Please advise if other circumstances prevail.
Volunteers working with neighbors must have a clear background check, clean driving history (work-arounds are available in some circumstances).226 More opportunities with Aging and Disability Services
