Mission Statement

Home of the Sparrow provides Hope, Opportunity and Support to empower women and children as they journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Volunteers are the backbone of Home of the Sparrow. Each time you volunteer, you become part of a woman’s story as she journeys to self-sufficiency!

Home of the Sparrow provides Transitional Shelter, as well as Affordable Housing and Rapid Re-Housing for women and children. Our Supportive Services address the core issues of homelessness.

We invite you to volunteer and shop at our Sparrow's Nest and Community Tread Thrift Stores. Stores are located in Woodstock, McHenry, Cary, Palatine, Mundelein, Third Lake, and Arlington Heights. Proceeds of these stores help keep our doors open. For more information about our programs, volunteering, or becoming a donor, visit
