Overview: We are seeking women over the age of 21 to serve as mentors to our EmpowHer Girls. Mentoring occurs once a month from October 2022 to June 2023 in middle and high schools throughout Los Angeles County to girls in grades 7th-12th.

Mission & Vision: The mission of EmpowHer Institute is to empower girls and young women in marginalized communities by giving them the skills necessary through education, training, and mentorship to become confident, college, and career-ready.

We envision a world where every girl is provided the opportunities and resources she uniquely needs to: embrace the power of her voice; make informed decisions about her body and future; break generational cycles of poverty; contribute to the creation of an equitable society.

Impact: Professional women serve as mentors who expose EmpowHer girls to careers in a multitude of industries and build positive relationships. These mentoring relationships result in our girls feeling supported and encouraged to set and achieve personal, academic and career goals.

Roles & Responsibilities: All EmpowHer Girls enrolled in our Girls Academy or Leaders Academy are assigned a mentor. Mentorship takes place in a group setting for our middle schoolers and one-on-one for our high schoolers. Mentors are accomplished professionals from various fields, including business, education, technology, the arts, and civic sectors. Because many of our girls don’t know what’s possible until they see it for themselves, our mentors are an integral part of the programs we offer.

Mentoring takes place at our partnering schools during the day and in our community program on Saturdays. The time commitment is minimal, amounting to approximately 1-2 hours a month from October 2022 to June 2023.
