Recruiting Organization: New York Presbyterian Hospital-DOVE Program
The DOVE Program is seeking caring and dedicated individuals to work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault as On-Call Volunteer Advocates.
Our advocates are folks of all genders, ages 21 and up, that respond to emergency cases to accompany and support survivors who seek medical and forensic care at New York Presbyterian- Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Volunteers must complete a 40 hour training in its entirety). The curriculum is approved by the New York State Department of Health and certifies our advocates as Rape Crisis Counselors. We will prepare you to accompany and support survivors through forensic collection of evidence and emergency medical care.
MUST BE ABLE TO:
Attend a 40 hour training for certification as a Rape Crisis Counselor in its entirety
Respond to the hospital within 60 minutes
Be on call 3 shifts per month (7pm-8am every night, Sat & Sun: 8am-8-7pm)
Commit to one year of service
Attend 6 advocate meetings during the year of service
Saturday, October 29 from 9:00-5:30 pm (in person at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital)
Sunday, October 30 from 9:00-5:30 pm (in person at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital)
Tuesday, November 1 from 6:00-9:30 pm (virtual)
Thursday, November 3 from 6:00-9:30 pm (virtual)
Saturday, November 5 from 9:00-5:30 pm (in person at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital)
Sunday, November 6 from 9:00-5:30 pm (in person at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital)
