Paws and Claws Chicago Rescue is looking for a volunteer to help us with public relations. This individual will be responsible for finding and communicating with the press, writing press releases and leading us in all things PR.

Hybrid volunteer position (or all remote if preferred). Office space available for in-person volunteering at our Adoption Center in Evanston. Ideally, we are looking for someone familiar with the Chicagoland area and the media industry here.

Paws and Claws is a cat rescue in Evanston, Il. The rescue serves the Chicagoland area and focuses on cats and kittens who are homeless or at risk of euthanasia. Our goal is to provide every animal in our care with behavioral, emotional and medical care, and to eventually match them with a family.

Responsibilities:

• Reach out to news stations and newspapers
• Write press releases
• Research and find people who are passionate and willing to cover animal rescue stories within the media industry
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with professionals

Requirements

• Passion for animals and animal welfare
• Experience in the PR space
• Ability to write well, and experience with pitching and writing for news purposes
