Engagement in this opportunity will provide the volunteer with an overview about the importance of native seed banking for restoration purposes. Each volunteer will receive on-the-job training and no previous experience is necessary. This activity is a quiet and peaceful process, possible unlike any experience ever encountered. In a small group setting, we hand-clean wildflower and grass seeds collected from permitted sites, and record the data for each set for long term storage and/or for site reintroduction purposes. This work is absolutely essential towards the progress of our mission to preserve, conserve and restore the disappearing grasslands of the Southeastern US. The seed-cleaning sessions are hosted on
Tuesday and Thursday mornings only, with some variations in the scheduling expected during the summer growing season. Feel free to express an interest here and we will reach out to you.
