Children are admitted as the result of the following conditions: abuse or neglect, breakdown of the home, or sudden illness, or an accident or tragedy depriving them of adequate care.
The home is not used as a detention for delinquent children, boarding services, or baby-sitting.
The goal of the home is to provide short-term residence until a child can return home, be placed in foster care, or be placed in a permanent residence.

Description
History
The Children's Emergency Shelter Home has been open since 1958.
Services
Children are placed in the Shelter with referrals from local law enforcement and foster groups. In conformity with Kansas Statutes and regulations, the Shelter is available to children up to twelve years of age for up to thirty days. The Shelter is presently licensed for seven children.

- Orientation or Training
- Max of 20 hours a week. We do not have a minimum amount of hours you can work.
- Volunteers/Staff will have to have 18 hours of training per year. Have experience with young children. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
