A program of the NY State Long Term Care Ombudsman Office, this program seeks dedicated volunteers to advocate for residents of long-term care facilities in Chemung, Schuyler, and Tompkins Counties, New York. See http://www.ltcombudsman.ny.gov/

Certified Long Term Care Ombudsmen are professionally trained and become NY State certified. They work together with residents, families, and facility staff to promote residents' rights and resolve their concerns.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Tompkins County Office for the Aging is to assist older adults and persons with long term care needs to live independently in their homes and communities with quality of life and dignity.

Description

Project CARE is a volunteer program serving frail or isolated seniors in their homes. Volunteers provide companionship, respite for caregivers, or help with household chores and errands.

The Long Term Care Ombudsmen Program is a volunteer program to advocate for residents in long term care facilities and promote change in the long term care system. Trained and certified long term care ombudsmen work with residents, families, and staff in long term care facilities in order to resolve residents' specific concerns.
