Position: Volunteer Reiki Practitioner

Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator

Job Description Summary

The Volunteer Reiki Practitioner is to provide Reiki sessions to hospice patients and/or caregivers who request services.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Provides Reiki sessions to patients and primary caregivers
• Provides companionship, support and appropriate education for patients
• Assist with identifying the patients’ health issues
• Explaining the Reiki process to patients and caregivers
• Responding appropriately to patient/caregiver inquiries
• Educating patients/caregivers on the benefits of the healing process
• Monitor and report patient pain
• Assist with treating patients' emotional and spiritual concerns using Reiki
• Counseling patients on stress management and general wellness
• Establish and maintain a strong and healthy relationship with patients and caregivers
• Work in collaboration with the hospice team
• Track and maintain patient information when required

Position Qualifications

• Professional certification as a Reiki Healer
• Ability to communicate well with people of diverse background and ages
• Ability to solve complex problems efficiently
• Maintains open communication with other team members, reporting events or changes of concern to the Volunteer Coordinator or other team members
• Ability to respect confidentiality at all times
• Self-motivated, dependable and responsible
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work in a changing environment
• Able to practice proper infection control
• Able to maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries
• Comfortable with death and the dying process
• Must be 18 years of age
