ORGANIZATION: Girls on the Run of the Bay Area

Girls Hugging

Girls on the Run is a nonprofit, after-school running program that educates and builds confidence in girls in the 3rd-5th & 6th-8th grades. Meeting 2x per week after school, trained volunteer coaches lead teams of up to 16 girls through interactive lessons and uplifting workouts. Every girl who joins our program becomes braver, bolder, and better equipped to achieve their dreams and goals.

We are seeking adaptable and enthusiastic volunteer coaches to join us in the East Bay this fall, especially in San Pablo and Richmond!

Our coaches are caring community members of all genders who are excited to inspire joyful movement and healthy habits in the next generation of our community’s girls. No experience is necessary- we provide all the training, supplies, and support needed to lead the season. 2-4 coaches support each team, and yes, you can coach with friends!

Available teams:
Helms Middle School, San Pablo: Mondays and Thursdays, 3:00- 4:15
Verde Elementary School, Richmond: Schedule TBD
More San Pablo sites to come!

If you have 5-7 hours a week to give back to your community, please fill out our Fall Coach Application! Our season starts in mid-September and ends with a 5K fun run in mid-November.

Covid precautions include receipt of volunteers' COVID-19 vaccination required, all practices are located outdoors, masking and social distancing are encouraged, and each girl receives individual materials to minimize contact spread.

If you have questions about this opportunity or are interested in starting a GOTR program site, please reach out to our Community Engagement VISTA, Clarissa Green, at coaches@gotrbayarea.org.

Girls on the Run of the Bay Area is a local chapter of a national organization, and a registered 501(c)3 non-profit. For more information visit our website at www.gotrbayarea.org, or contact us at (415) 863-8942.
