QUICK OVERVIEW

Help Young Students Build Lifelong Literacy Skills

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Volunteer at a local elementary school in-person to support the young readers of Los Angeles! Reading Partners believes that our communities do better when all students have access to high-quality learning opportunities and the critical reading skills needed to prepare them for academic, social, and civic success. Reading Partners is currently seeking volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with students in the 2022-23 school year.

Reading Partners works with 15 elementary schools located in mid-city LA, downtown LA, and Pasadena. Our mission is to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results.

Reading Partners' volunteers have a positive and statistically significant impact on student reading comprehension, reading fluency, and sight-word reading. Furthermore, 83% of students improved their social-emotional learning skills by the end of the school year. Learn more about Reading Partners' outstanding impact here.

About Reading Partners Los Angeles

Location:

5350 Wilshire Blvd. #36216, Los Angeles, CA 90036, US

Mission Statement

Help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results. The Reading Partners program focuses on children from low-income communities who are struggling with reading. Working with partner schools, the program offers children one-on-one tutoring with a caring volunteer who is dedicated to one child's success. Teachers refer English speaking, K-5 students who have fallen behind six months to two years in reading to Reading Partners. Once enrolled, students receive tutoring twice a week in 45-minute sessions. Students who were once struggling in many subjects not only become proud, confident readers, but also transform into children excited about learning and succeeding.
