The Dr Martin Luther King Parade Foundation in Tampa is is need of someone to recruit and coordinate activities of volunteers for the Martin Luther King Parade, to be held on January 16, 2023. Volunteers are used to assist with pre-staging set up, staging area management, parade route monitoring, shuttle bus loading/ unloading, marching band accommodations, and other related duties. The Volunteer Manager will assist in the recruitment of volunteers and volunteer groups, training these volunteers for day of activities, communications to all volunteer groups and coordination with other parade officials.

The mission of the Dr Martin Luther King Parade Foundation is to celebrate and honor the life and legacy of Dr Martin Luther King while providing an opportunity for residents, businesses, and community organizations all over the Tampa Bay Area to come together for a common positive purpose, and get some valuable exposure to the community in which they operate.

Description

The Dr Martin Luther King Parade Foundation is a 501c3 organization whose membership is entirely volunteer. The Foundation works each year with other volunteers and independent contractors to coordinate and operate the parade, and several other volunteer activities in partnership with community groups around the area. In addition, proceeds from fundraising activities also go toward scholarships and youth development.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Beginning in September 3 -5 hours a week in recruitment activities. In December spend 1 - 2 days training with Parade Officials. January 15, 4 hours with pre-staging activities, January 16 (day of parade) 10 hours overseeing all volunteer activities.
