In partnership with the National Council of Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, Healing Arrows is creating a STAR QUILT with the names of incarcerated Native Women sewn onto it.

Do you want to make an impact for social justice? No experience is needed to embroider the names onto the STAR QUILT except a willingness to learn how to sew the names onto the quilt in a simple stich. All supplies are provided and the work is done collectively. Join us!

Mission Statement

The mission of Healing Arrows Indigenous Social Justice & Wellness organization is to advocate, promote and educate on issues of social justice for Indigenous Peoples and to educate on Indigenous Wellness approaches to health and healing.

Description

We believe that in order to advocate for social justice, we need to participate in social justice movements for Indigenous Peoples. As part of our commitment, we participated in the resistance movement to stop the XL pipeline at Standing Rock which was the genesis for the founding of this organization. Currently, we are focused on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls movement (MMIWG) to reduce the incidence of violence against Native women and girls. Our other program is the Cultural Heritage program which seeks to record and video tape cultural preservation activities around Indian Country, ensuring that our traditions, our languages, and our cultural lifeways are preserved for the next seven generation.
