Job description

Content Strategist, Volunteer

About the Pet Cancer Foundation

The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.

We need to do more for our furry friends, and we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families. Our team requires skilled and talented communications professionals to lead our content development teams, which create relevant and engaging content that increases awareness, informs, and educates our communities about pet cancer. That's where and how you can help us.

About the position

The Content Strategist is responsible for communicating the Pet Cancer Foundation story through compelling written and visual content across an assigned online community. The Strategist is the leader of their channel team, directing them to produce relevant and engaging content, using all forms of media including written copy, video, still and motion graphics, and selective illustrated works. The Content Strategist will develop and implement a channel content strategy that works complimentarily with our other social channels, while driving engagement and growth, and ensuring that our content is representative of the organization’s direction, voice, and standards. The Strategist will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the Foundation to incorporate PCF initiatives and campaigns into content being produced for our communities.

Please note that we have not used the term "social media" for our channels, and that our use of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram are much different than other organizations.
