Ezen Foundation is committed to creating engaging, educational experiences for the wider community. This is partly done through curating and holding exhibitions.

Our current exhibition, Kimono: The making of a Cultural Icon, chronicles the history of the kimono through woodblock prints, vintage posters, antique photography and physical installations from vintage kimono sellers and Japanese-Italian haute couture fashion designer (@deadlotuscouture), Nange Magro who is the artistic director of Ezen Foundation.

The role will include guiding visitors through the exhibition and either answer any questions they may have or direct these to staff with the relevant specialist knowledge. By observing the replies and answers given by the staff, you will gradually develop your knowledge to be able to respond to visitors independently as you further your own understanding of the exhibits.

There are computer terminals as well as wifi in the exhibition area, so for those who wish to simply volunteer as a guide for our exhibition may work on your college/university work or other commitments while guests are not visiting.

When we have changes of exhibitions, there is also the opportunity to learn the process of artwork selection, curating the display, and the intricacies involved in the entire process from conception to installation.

This job is for those who are interested in the museum and events world, and getting a feel for what events management could be like and the logistics that go into pulling together an event. It involves forward thinking and planning and a good dash of creativity. This volunteer position will give you plenty of practical experience to add to your CV.
